Vogel Bros. Building Co. knows how important the right tools are to getting a job done well. Which is why year after year the Vogel Foundation has been advocating the School Supplies for Kids program as a means to help the economically disadvantaged children in Dane County have access to the tools their education requires.

More than 31% of students in Dane County qualify as economically disadvantaged. Each year, teachers see students return to classes without the basic supplies. This greatly affects a student’s education by increasing the achievement gap and prohibits motivation to be successful in school, career and life. Vogel Bros. Building Co. believes our actions make a difference. Which is why they have been supporting the youth in Dane County for the past 24 years through the School Supplies for Kids (SSFK) program.

School Supplies for Kids (SSFK) is a local non-profit charity effort, organized through the Vogel Foundation that distributes school supplies to Dane County public schools. Working in cooperation with area K-12 teachers, SSFK develops a list of the necessary supplies needed for every grade level. Through the generous monetary donations from area business, foundations, organizations and individuals, SSFK purchases the supplies at a generous discount from Shopko. Thousands of pens, pencils, crayons, folders, notebooks, binders and other school supplies are then sorted through the assistance of volunteers and delivered to area schools where they are made available to the economically disadvantaged students.

David Vogel started the program by helping just one neighborhood. 24 years later, the program serves 141 public schools, is recognized through the business community, and is supported through community partnerships like that with Fire Fighters Local 311 who helps deliver the supplies to Madison East High School via fire truck. This program could not operate without the support and generosity from the community as the overall need continues to increase each year.

Please consider making a donation to this amazing program. Donations are accepted year-round and tax-deductible. Thanks to the administrative support of this program donated in-kind by Vogel Bros., 100% of every dollar donated to the program goes directly towards the purchase of supplies. Only monetary donations are accepted because your gift has a far greater reach than the donation of items. It allows the elimination of duplication, the ability to control consistently, and streamlines the logistics of collection and distribution.

Just as difficult as it would be to build a school without a hammer or tape measure, it’s difficult to be successful in school without notebooks, pencils or rulers. Your generosity is appreciated by many, and the impact of your investment in our students in immeasurable. Vogel Bros. Building Co. believes our actions make a difference. Do you?
