Project Engineer Summer Intern

Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, but other duties may be assigned):
Project Engineer internships provide hands on experience in the construction industry, typically working with a Project Engineer or Project Superintendent.

  • Process and review shop drawings
  • Work with Primavera scheduling system
  • Detailed drafting
  • Owner and Architect/Engineer contract
  • Purchasing and material expediting
  • Invoice verification and inventory analysis
  • Construction jobsite surveying
  • Updating As-Built documents
  • Jobsite safety
  • Labor tracking, auditing and projections
  • Field auditing of completed work
  • Subcontractor coordination
  • Daily and periodic report updates

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to interface effectively with both field and office personnel
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to develop and interpret schedules
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to observe and learn various construction activities
  • Ability to implement attention to detail
  • Functional knowledge of office equipment and computers
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage time
  • Ability to manage stress

Education and Training:

  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma and be enrolled in a construction undergraduate program or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience determined to be acceptable by the hiring authority.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and bend
  • Ability to use hands, arms and fingers to reach
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to comprehend and talk clearly in English and have hearing ability sufficient to conduct normal business
  • Ability to navigate rough terrain without assistance (i.e. muddy, rocky job sites)
  • Ability to provide transportation to travel to and from construction activities in a timely manner
  • Summer Hours – 40 or more hours per week

Work Environment:

  • Indoor office environment is temperature controlled
  • Exposure to heat, cold, rain and other outdoor weather conditions
  • Moderate noise levels
  • Walking surfaces may be uneven and affected by weather and construction conditions
