School Supplies for Kids has been serving our communities and helping economically disadvantaged students since 1993. Through the generous support from individuals, businesses and foundations, we provide area schools with the basic supplies that are vital to a student’s education.
WHY SCHOOL SUPPLIES?
About 30% of students in Dane County qualify as economically disadvantaged. Having the necessary school supplies helps close the achievement gap and gives students the motivation to be successful in school, career and life. Our program focuses on the basic supplies required for each grade such as pens, pencils, markers, crayons, paper and folders. In cooperation with teachers from the various school districts, we develop a list and quantify the need. The supplies are distributed to public schools in Dane County based on the percentage of economically disadvantaged students in that school.
We appreciate a monetary gift so that your donation has a far greater reach. With a generous discount from vendors, we purchase the items new which allows us to eliminate duplication, control consistency, and streamline the logistics of collection and distribution. There are several levels to this giving opportunity and we appreciate any support you can invest. Your generosity doesn’t remain with us. We receive many touching notes from students, faculty and staff from the schools. The impact of your investment in their future is immeasurable.
School Supplies for Kids was created by the Vogel Foundation,
an organization who remains a principal benefactor every year.
Coordination and administration of School Supplies for Kids
is fully funded through in-kind donation from Vogel Bros. Building Co.
The School Supplies for Kids Program is supported in part by Capitol Centre Market
who provides a generous discount on the purchase of the supplies.
