The YWCA building is a significant downtown Madison building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1990. In 1993 the building was added to the local historic register and is designated a Madison Landmark. The YWCA Madison is the winner of the “2011 Historic Preservation Award” by the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation.
The building consists of twelve stories which include both residential and commercial / office space. The scope of the work includes upgrading or replacement of mechanical systems, elevator modernization, emergency generator and fire alarm upgrade, exterior window replacement, exterior restoration and interior remodeling. The work began in January 2010 and was completed in January 2011. The building was occupied during the construction period so scheduling of work was carried out in coordination with the YWCA staff. Vogel Bros. worked closely with YWCA leadership and staff to minimize the disruption to the residents.
